  • Patel turns tables on Walz in response to viral tweet on Minnesota fraud raids: ‘Come again?’

Minnesota Gov. Tim Walz faced immediate backlash Tuesday after claiming credit for federal fraud raids in Minneapolis, prompting a sharp rebuke from FBI Director Kash Patel.

The clash underscores growing political tensions over a sweeping probe into fraud that critics say unfolded under Walz’s watch, as federal authorities now take the lead.

“Come again?” Patel posted on X in response to Walz, who claimed that Tuesday’s raids happened because Minnesota state agencies “caught irregular behavior and reported it.”

“This FBI and DOJ with our DHS partners drafted and executed every search warrant today. But go ahead and take credit for our work while we smoke out the fraud plaguing Minnesota under your governorship.”

Walz’s tweet, viewed over a million times in just a few hours, was widely panned by conservatives who pointed out that the massive fraud scandal unfolded under his watch and that the public pressure was ultimately what forced him to drop his re-election bid for governor.

TOP 5 WILDEST MOMENTS AS GOP LAWMAKERS CLASHED WITH WALZ, ELLISON IN HEATED FRAUD HEARING: ‘UNBELIEVABLE’

“Arsonist masquerading as a firefighter,” Townhall columnist Dustin Grage posted on X.

“The main problem Tim Walz has now is that no one – Republican or Democrat – takes him seriously,” Republican operative and Trump 2020 communications director Tim Murtaugh posted on X. “He’s proven that he’s that much of a boob.”

“The same guy who spent a whole hearing dodging questions about $9 BILLION in fraud in Minnesota and talking about ICE instead is now praising fraud control,” the Republican-led House Oversight Committee posted on X. “Tomorrow, we will pass legislation in the Committee to make sure it never happens again. Sit this one out, Tim.”

MN LAWMAKER TAKES ACTION TO GET ANSWERS ON OMAR’S ALLEGED FRAUD TIES AFTER SHE SKIPS KEY HEARING: ‘GHOSTED US’

“.@GovTimWalz is a stolen valor POS,” Rep. Derrick Van Orden, R-Wis., posted on X, referencing past criticisms of Walz’s military record that surfaced during the 2024 presidential campaign. “This is par for the course.”

“Well, the American people know we can actually thank @nickshirleyy and @VP,” Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., posted on X.

Others on social media pointed to an X post from the city of Minneapolis assuring citizens that it is not involved in the raids.

Federal authorities raided more than 20 locations, including childcare facilities, in Minneapolis on Tuesday as part of a sweeping fraud investigation into largely Somali-owned businesses, sources confirmed to Fox News.

“Today the FBI with federal, state and local law enforcement is involved in court-authorized law enforcement activity as part of an ongoing fraud investigation,” a Department of Justice spokesperson said.

Authorities executed 22 federal search warrants in Minnesota on Tuesday morning as part of the operation, which is not immigration-related, sources said.

  • Woman pleads guilty to paying for sexual torture videos involving monkeys for online group: ‘Sick person’

A woman from Illinois is pleading guilty after paying thousands of dollars to have others make so-called “animal crush videos,” which included depictions of adult and baby monkeys being mutilated and tortured for users in a deranged online chat group.

Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) sent out a press release Monday indicating Amanda Leigh Fourez, a U.S. citizen from Illinois, pleaded guilty earlier this month to distributing and conspiracy to create and distribute these sorts of videos. The videos Fourez paid for included footage that showed the monkeys being burned alive, having their genitals mutilated and other atrocities, according to the press release.

“Fourez paid thousands of dollars to commission bespoke sexual torture videos of monkeys, and later she distributed the obscene crush videos over the Internet. Fourez archived and controlled the distribution of animal crush videos,” the Department of Justice added in its own press release.

ICE BUSTS SEVERAL CONVICTED CRIMINALS, INCLUDING CHILD RAPIST WHO THREATENED TO KILL 11-YEAR-OLD VICTIM

Fourez was a member of several online chat groups and private payment groups dedicated to making, distributing, and discussing “animal crush videos” and others of the same violent nature, according to ICE.

Another member of these groups, Joseph Garrett Buckland, of Mount Pleasant, Pennsylvania, also pleaded guilty a few weeks ago to one count of conspiracy to create and distribute animal crush videos. Buckland was charged on Feb. 26 with violating the federal Animal Crushing statute, according to the Department of Justice.

A bill was passed in Congress in 2010 banning videos depicting acts of animal cruelty to satisfy a sexual fetish, and the law was updated in 2019 to ban the act itself.

EX-FAUCI TOP ADVISOR INDICTED OVER ALLEGED COVID COVER-UP, HIDDEN EMAILS

ICE Homeland Security Investigations’ New Orleans Cyber and Human Exploitation Investigations and the FBI investigated the case against Fourez. ICE enforces over 400 federal laws and statutes, including cybercrimes.

Fourez faces a maximum penalty of five years in prison for the conspiracy charge and a maximum penalty of seven years in prison for the distribution charge and a fine of up to $500,000. A judge will determine the sentence after considering the sentencing guidelines and other factors, according to the Department of Justice. Fox News Digital inquired with ICE for an update on Fourez’s sentencing but did not get a response.

“Fourez admitted to her role in making these horrific videos and posting them online,” said ICE Director Todd M. Lyons. “What kind of sick person would pay someone make a video of sexualized animal torture? ICE will continue investigating these sadistic online groups and do everything in our power to stop them.”

  • WATCH: Cornyn tears into Dems for holding DHS ‘hostage’ and failing the No. 1 ‘non-negotiable’ for America

Longtime Texas Republican Sen. John Cornyn accused Democrats of jeopardizing American lives amid heightened threats by supporting sanctuary policies and allowing the Department of Homeland Security to remain unfunded.

In an interview with Fox News Digital, Cornyn decried the Democrats, saying, “This is just another manifestation of the sort of defund police mentality on the left.”

The comments come amid heightened national concern over public safety threats following what appeared to be another attempted assassination targeting President Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on Saturday. There is also widespread concern over violent crimes involving illegal immigrants in communities across the country. Meanwhile, the Department of Homeland Security is experiencing the longest funding lapse in its history, further straining its ability to respond to threats.

“We know there are dangerous people here,” he said. “People with criminal records, and others who are a threat to public safety. And if there’s one job that is number one, non-negotiable, when it comes to our citizens, it’s public safety.”

RO KHANNA SAYS DHS MUST BE FUNDED AFTER PRESSED ON WHCD SHOOTING FALLOUT

Cornyn, one of the most senior members of the Senate who chairs the Border Security and Immigration Subcommittee, introduced the Sanctuary City Elimination Act last week to ensure local police comply with ICE detainers by barring sanctuary cities from accessing federal funding.

Speaking with Fox News Digital, Cornyn also accused Democrats of holding DHS “hostage” to “avoid funding immigration enforcement.” He added that “this is just another manifestation of the sort of defund police mentality on the left, specifically now in the context of illegal immigration.”

Cornyn ripped into Democrats, pointing to deaths such as that of 12-year-old Jocelyn Nungaray, a U.S. citizen living in Houston who was killed by two illegal immigrants during the Biden administration in 2024.

“Folks in Texas remember names like Jocelyn Nungaray and others who have been victims of the unlimited open borders immigration that the Biden administration allowed during his four years in office,” he said. “Now that we have safe, secure borders under President Trump, [Democrats] are saying they don’t want to support the Immigration and Customs Enforcement [ICE].”

Cornyn is currently locked in a bitter primary runoff with Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton. The attorney general is challenging Cornyn for the Senate seat he has held since 2002. While Paxton has received endorsements from the likes of Turning Point USA, Cornyn has been endorsed by the National Border Patrol Council. President Donald Trump has not issued an endorsement in the race, which will be decided by voters in late May.

WHCD SHOOTING SHOWS DEMS ARE ‘PLAYING’ WITH AMERICANS’ SAFETY BY WITHHOLDING DHS FUNDING, GOP LAWMAKER SAYS

Cornyn’s Sanctuary City Elimination Act is cosponsored by Sens. John Barrasso, R-Wyo., Ted Budd, R-N.C., Tim Scott, R-S.C., Cynthia Lummis, R-Wyo., and Eric Schmitt, R-Mo.

If passed, the measure would bar sanctuary cities and states from receiving certain federal funds and grants, including arts, education, environmental and community development block grants, according to Cornyn’s office. The bill would also seek to shield state and local law enforcement officers who comply with ICE detainers from prosecution by treating them as federal officers. Additionally, the bill allows state governments “harmed by criminal aliens released by sanctuary jurisdictions” to sue those jurisdictions, as well as the federal government, to enforce the prohibition on funding to that sanctuary jurisdiction.

The same week Cornyn introduced the bill, the Houston City Council backed off a sanctuary-type policy amid threats of legal action from state officials.

Cornyn believes that his bill can accomplish a similar result across the country. He noted that even if Democrats stymy progress on his bill, “We can certainly try to pass this using the same reconciliation process that we’ll use to fund ICE and the Department of Homeland Security.”

“This is a battleground that we should not shy away from,” he said.

SECURITY UNDER SCRUTINY AS WHCD ATTENDEES CITE INCONSISTENT SCREENING BEFORE SHOOTING

Alluding to the upcoming midterm elections, Cornyn expressed confidence that the issue will continue to resonate with voters in November.

“They don’t care about public safety … We do care about public safety,” he said, adding that “is a pretty good contrast and one that we may need to just take to the voters.”

Addressing the weekend shooting, Cornyn told Fox News Digital that “Democrats cannot feign concern for President Trump’s life while also refusing the fund the very Department that houses Secret Service and other agencies sworn to protect him.” He added, “I hope that, finally, the events of this past weekend will serve as a wake up call for Democrats to fund DHS.”

  • Indiana Democrat arrested after allegedly campaigning in neighborhood while on cocaine

An Indiana Democratic State Senate candidate was arrested while allegedly canvassing a neighborhood while high on cocaine, according to police, after officers say his erratic behavior and a brief struggle led to the discovery of drugs in his car.

Andrew Dezelan, 38, who is running in the May 5 Democratic primary for Senate District 31, faces one count of possession of cocaine and a misdemeanor count of resisting law enforcement, following his arrest Sunday night, FOX59 Indianapolis reported.

Police responded to reports of a man going door-to-door soliciting around 8 p.m. in a neighborhood in Fishers, WRTV reported. Officers located Dezelan sitting in his car at a nearby clubhouse, where he told them he was canvassing.

According to a probable cause affidavit obtained by the outlet, officers quickly noticed signs Dezelan might have been impaired, including rapid speech, erratic movements, sweating and constricted pupils.

When asked for identification, Dezelan allegedly became agitated, rummaging through his vehicle and saying he needed to leave. Police said he put the car in reverse and reached into his pockets despite commands to stop.

Officers opened the car door and pulled him out. A struggle followed, with police forcing Dezelan to the ground multiple times before handcuffing him, authorities said.

Dezelan is one of four candidates seeking the Democratic nomination for the district, which includes parts of Fishers and Lawrence.

  • WATCH: Ilhan Omar roasted for brutal resurfaced video about ‘World War Eleven’

Rep. Ilhan Omar, D-Minn., is being roasted online for a brutal resurfaced video of her misreading World War II as “World War Eleven” during a Capitol Hill news conference.

Omar, the first Somali American member of Congress, made the error during her opening remarks at a Democratic news conference last year on the reintroduction of the Neighbors Not Enemies Act. The bill, which did not pass, was aimed at opposing President Donald Trump’s immigration enforcement, particularly his invocation of the Alien Enemies Act.

The congresswoman railed that the “last time the Alien Enemies Act was invoked it was used to detain and deport German, Japanese, Italian immigrants during World War Eleven.”

JEFFRIES CALLS TRUMP ‘DUMBEST PERSON EVER’ TO SIT AT 1600 PENNSYLVANIA AVENUE

She quickly corrected herself, saying, “Oh, two,” and laughing.

As Omar’s district faces increased scrutiny amid a massive federal fraud probe largely involving the Somali immigrant community, the resurfaced clip is circulating online. The mistake drew mockery, including from Sen. Mike Lee, R-Utah, who teased Omar, saying, “‘World War Eleven’ … Yes, that was deadly.”

In a separate post, Lee continued to rib Omar, sharing a side-by-side of her error alongside another video of her calling Trump voters “idiots.” The video showed Omar saying, “It’s become really hard to have an intellectual debate with any of these people,” and asserting that “the dumbing of the United States has arrived, because how else do we get a Trump presidency again?”

The video of Omar’s gaffe also garnered a reaction from Elon Musk, who posted a grimacing emoji.

The popular conservative account “I Meme Therefore I Am” posted, “She must have gotten her education in the Quality Learing Center.” The post referenced one of the Minneapolis daycare centers allegedly engaged in fraud, which went viral for misspelling its name on its sign as “Quality Learing Center” instead of “Quality Learning Center.”

Chloe Cole, a conservative activist and prominent “detransitioner,” posted on X, “Absolutely in awe of this clip of Ilhan Omar calling World War II ‘World War Eleven.’”

“Truly quality learing. We’re learing like we’ve never leared before,” Cole wrote.

TRUMP BLASTS KETANJI BROWN JACKSON AS ‘LOW IQ PERSON’ IN SUPREME COURT TIRADE

Conservative podcast host Matt Walsh reacted, “God forbid we ever have World War 3, Ilhan Omar will think we’re on World War One Hundred Eleven.”

“Consider the astronomical levels of stupidity on display here. Ilhan Omar doesn’t know how to read Roman numerals AND she thinks there have been 11 world wars,” Walsh wrote in another X post. “Either one of those would be reasonable justification to remove her from office and send her back to Somalia. But both?”

Fox News Digital reached out to Omar for comment.

This comes as the federal government’s investigation into alleged rampant fraud in Minnesota ramps up, with agents executing 22 search warrants at locations, including childcare centers suspected of involvement. The raids, conducted Tuesday morning, centered on federal investigations into largely Somali-owned businesses, including childcare facilities that registered with the state but were allegedly billing for care that was not provided.

Sources told Fox News that two of the raids were conducted at the Quality Learning Center and Baby Halimo Child Care, both in Minneapolis.

‘MARTYRS’: MICHIGAN DEMS NOMINATE HEZBOLLAH-PRAISING CANDIDATE AFTER OUSTING JEWISH REGENT

Omar has been largely critical of the federal investigation. In a January interview with CBS News, Omar said the Trump administration’s handling of the scandal “is harming my constituents, and it is creating the kind of chaos and confusion that no one needs in this moment.”

Speaking with Margaret Brennan, Omar said the Trump administration’s response to the fraud being exposed “creates the level of confusion and chaos that is not necessary in a moment when we are trying to deal with a serious problem that needs serious people to be able to address it.”

Omar added, “We want to collaborately [sic] work with the administration to try to make sure that there is no fraud that’s being perpetuated on our state.

“What we do not want is the level of terror, of confusion, of chaos that is being created without any results in this moment.”

  • Melania Trump, Queen Camilla team up at White House youth event spotlighting US-UK bond

First lady Melania Trump and Queen Camilla came together Tuesday at the White House to spotlight a shared commitment to improving children’s well-being.

The two spouses joined students for hands-on activities related to technology and history at the White House Tennis Pavilion in the afternoon.

The U.K.’s queen and king are in the U.S. for a four-day trip that is packed with various events and private meetings, including with the president, Speaker of the House Mike Johnson, R-La., and others. The event on Tuesday underscored a shared priority to strengthen children’s development, with Trump’s “Be Best” and “Fostering the Future” initiatives and Camilla’s long-running focus on literacy driving the effort.

Camilla and the first lady joined regional students, including several state champions from the Presidential AI Challenge, to test out and use virtual reality (VR) headsets to learn about American and United Kingdom history.

Trump donned a white silk and wool jacket and skirt from the Ralph Lauren Collection, according to pool reports. She also wore a straw hat by Eric Javits with Manolo Blahnik snake pumps.

The VR glasses gave the students a chance to view popular landmarks in the U.K., such as Snowdonia, Giant’s Causeway, Stonehenge and the exterior of Buckingham Palace. Students also evaluated artifacts using Meta glasses provided by the White House Collection and the National Archives and Records Administration to learn more about the special relationship between the two countries.

While Trump and Camilla were spending time with the children, President Donald Trump and King Charles III met in the Oval Office.

“It was a really good meeting, and he is a fantastic person, and they are incredible people. Real honor,” said Trump to the press after it concluded.

The Trumps walked Charles and Camilla to their car as the monarchs departed for the U.S. Capitol. Charles is expected to give an address to Congress on Tuesday afternoon.

The monarchs will then return to the White House for a tour of the residence and to view historic documents later this evening before a state dinner.

  • From trained assassins to rally stage rushers, here’s every known attempt on Trump’s life since 2016

Another assassination attempt targeting Donald Trump at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner adds to a mounting list of threats since he entered politics, a total that has hit double digits.

Just days before the most recent assassination attempt, House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., said Democrats are in an “era of maximum warfare,” prompting criticism from Republicans that the political rhetoric is pushing citizens to commit political violence.

Since the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, calls from politicians and activists on both sides to “lower the temperature” have grown into an ongoing national conversation.

Ever since Trump first entered the political sphere in 2015, prominent public figures have referred to him as a “fascist,” and a “Nazi,” and he’s been likened to Adolf Hitler. Comparisons to Trump and members of his administration to Nazi Germany have only grown since he took office in January 2025.

UNEARTHED VIDEO REVEALS COLE ALLEN AS QUIET INVENTOR YEARS BEFORE ALLEGED BID TO ASSASSINATE TRUMP

Many of Trump’s attempted attackers or assassins have pointed to their belief that Trump was a “White supremacist” and a “bully,” as the rationale for their planned attacks.

“President Trump remains completely undeterred despite the multiple attempts on his life by cowardly individuals,” White House spokeswoman Allison Schuster said.

“The president will not allow deranged lunatics to change the fabric of this country and dictate the American way of life. President Trump and the entire administration will continue to stand strong and fight for the American people.”

Here is a timeline of all the known attacks on President Donald Trump’s life:

During his 2016 presidential campaign, Trump held a rally at Wright State University. A 22-year-old protester named Thomas DiMassimo jumped a security barrier and attempted to charge the stage, but he was stopped by Secret Service. DiMassimo claimed he wanted to “bully the bully” and was going to make “some remarks” to Trump and his followers. He was charged with a misdemeanor and was sentenced to a year of probation.

Michael Steven Sandford, a British national, attempted to grab a police officer’s gun while in attendance at Trump’s rally in Las Vegas. Sandford, who is diagnosed with autism, told an arresting officer that he intended to “shoot and kill Trump.” He was sentenced to 12 months and a day in U.S. federal prison, and he was deported back to the United Kingdom after he completed his sentence.

During President Trump’s visit to the Andeavor Mandan Refinery where he delivered a speech on tax reform, Gregory Lee Leingang attempted to drive a stolen forklift into the presidential motorcade. He intended to “flip” Trump’s limousine and kill him, but the forklift got stuck. Leingang was sentenced to 20 years in prison.

MAN ACCUSED OF IRAN-BACKED TRUMP ASSASSINATION PLOT COMPARED HIS PLAN TO BUTLER SHOOTING: FBI

During Trump’s visit to the Philippines for the Association of Southeast Asian Nations’ ASEAN 50 Summit, ISIS operatives planned to kill the president, having released several videos threatening Trump’s life. One of the videos included a picture of Trump with several bullet holes. Just 20 minutes before Trump’s plane landed, Secret Service agents tracked down and apprehended one of the ISIS operatives, who was parked a mile away from Trump’s hotel.

A Canadian woman mailed to the White House and eight Texas state law enforcement officials a slew of threatening letters and homemade ricin, a deadly toxin. Pascale Cecile Veronique Ferrier, 55, called in the letters for Trump to end his presidential candidacy and made calls on Twitter that “someone please shoot ‘Trump in the face.’” Border Patrol agents stopped Ferrier at the Peace Bridge Border Crossing in Buffalo, N.Y., Sept. 20, 2020. She was in possession of a loaded gun and hundreds of rounds of ammunition. She was sentenced to over 21 years in prison.

Asif Raza Merchant, a Pakistani national and a trained operative of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, was sent by the terrorist force to plan and execute political assassinations with intended targets including President Donald Trump, former President Joe Biden and U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Nikki Haley, according to the Eastern District of New York.

Merchant arrived in the United States in April 2024 and met with a purported hitmen in June, but in reality they were undercover U.S. law enforcement officers. Merchant was convicted in March 2026 but has not yet been sentenced.

NEW BOOK DETAILS SECURITY LAPSES AHEAD OF TRUMP ASSASSINATION ATTEMPT: ‘CLEAR THERE WAS A PROBLEM’

Positioned roughly 150 yards atop a building outside the security perimeter at Trump’s Butler rally, Thomas Matthew Crooks fired approximately eight shots from his AR-15 rifle, hitting Trump in the ear and killing an attendee, Corey Comperatore, 50. It was the closest attempt on Trump’s life. Crooks, 20, was killed by a member of the Secret Service counter sniper team. Little is known about Crooks, who acted alone with no criminal history. The attempted assassination has intensified scrutiny over the Secret Service.

A little more than two months after Butler, a Secret Service agent found Ryan Wesley Routh hiding in a bush near a fence surrounding Trump’s West Palm Beach golf course after noticing the barrel of a rifle poking out. Routh fled and was later apprehended. Routh was sentenced to life in prison in February after being convicted for his assassination attempt on Trump. In a letter outlining his reasoning for assassinating Trump, Routh accused the president of being a threat to democracy and accused Trump of being a “pedophile” and a “rapist.”

Austin Tucker Martin, a 21-year-old from North Carolina, breached Mar-a-Lago’s perimeter carrying a gas can and shotgun. Secret Service agents confronted Martin, ordering him to lay down his weapons, but he refused. Martin was fatally shot by the Secret Service agents. At the time of the incident, Trump was at the White House. Martin’s motive remains unknown.

ARMED MAN SHOT AND KILLED AFTER ‘UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY’ INTO MAR-A-LAGO: SECRET SERVICE

The most recent alleged attempted assassin, Cole Tomas Allen, a 31-year-old school teacher from California, rushed through the lobby doors leading to the Washington Hilton Hotel ballroom, where the dinner was held. He fired several shots before Secret Service agents tackled him to the ground, stopping Allen from breaching the ballroom.

Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche said that, based on the evidence collected, which includes a manifesto, investigators suspect that Allen sought to kill as many high-ranking Cabinet officials as possible, including President Donald Trump.

  • James Comey indicted again in new Justice Department probe

Former FBI Director James Comey has been indicted for a second time by the Justice Department, multiple sources told Fox News. The charges appear to be related to a May 2025 Instagram photo of an “86 47” shell formation on a beach.

While the specific counts were not immediately clear, the indictment follows a wave of criticism from Republicans and Trump administration officials who viewed the post as a veiled threat.

In the slang often used in the service industry, to “86” something means to eject, cancel or get rid of it. Donald Trump is the 47th president of the United States.

FBI LAUNCHES CRIMINAL INVESTIGATIONS OF JOHN BRENNAN, JAMES COMEY: DOJ SOURCES

Comey removed the post the same day it was uploaded, claiming he had misinterpreted the shells as a general political message.

“I posted earlier a picture of some shells I saw today on a beach walk, which I assumed were a political message,” Comey wrote in a subsequent post. “I didn’t realize some folks associate those numbers with violence. It never occurred to me, but I oppose violence of any kind, so I took the post down.”

In an interview with Fox News’ Bret Baier, President Donald Trump rejected this explanation.

“He knew exactly what that meant. A child knows what that meant,” Trump said. “If you’re the FBI director, and you don’t know what that meant, that meant ‘assassination,’ and it says it loud and clear.”

CLAPPER ALLEGEDLY PUSHED TO ‘COMPROMISE’ ‘NORMAL’ STEPS TO RUSH 2017 ICA, DESPITE CONCERNS FROM NSA DIRECTOR

This second indictment against Comey comes just hours after a federal judge in New York allowed a separate lawsuit brought by his daughter, Maurene Comey, to move forward against the Justice Department.

Maurene Comey, a former federal prosecutor, is suing the Justice Department over what she describes as an unlawful dismissal. Her lawsuit alleges she was terminated “solely or substantially because her father is former FBI Director James B. Comey, or because of her perceived political affiliation and beliefs, or both.”

James Comey was fired by Donald Trump in 2017 during his first term over the handling of the Russia investigation. Since then, Comey has been a vocal critic of the president.

In September 2025, James Comey was charged with lying to Congress regarding press leaks. However, a federal judge dismissed that case after ruling that the prosecutor involved had been improperly appointed. Comey’s legal team has declined to comment on this latest indictment.

  • US Middle East ally strips citizenship from 69 in crackdown on pro-Iran support

Bahrain stripped citizenship from dozens of nationals Monday after accusing them of promoting pro-Iran sentiment online, marking the latest use of a controversial law that allows the government to revoke nationality for security concerns.

The interior ministry said 69 people — including some relatives of those accused — lost their citizenship for allegedly “glorifying” hostile Iranian actions and maintaining ties with foreign entities.

Bahrain said the revocations were carried out under Article 10(3) of its nationality law, which allows authorities to strip citizenship from individuals deemed to have harmed the kingdom’s interests or violated their duty of loyalty. Officials said those targeted — along with some of their family members — were all of non-Bahraini origin, a category that typically includes naturalized citizens rather than native-born nationals.

The move follows a directive issued days earlier by Bahrain’s King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, who ordered officials to act against those who “betrayed the nation” or undermined its security and stability, including reviewing whether individuals should retain their citizenship.

The Kingdom of Bahrain Tuesday sentenced five people to life in prison and 25 more to 10 years on charges of spying for Iran. The prosecution said 25 others were separately sentenced to 10 years each for supporting Iran’s “terrorist acts” in Bahrain.

US EMBASSIES IN BAHRAIN, EGYPT ISSUE WARNINGS AS IRAN THREATENS UNIVERSITIES ACROSS MIDDLE EAST

The decision comes as Bahrain grapples with fallout from Iran’s recent missile and drone strikes across the Gulf, including attacks on U.S. military assets in the kingdom. Officials have cast the citizenship revocations as a national security measure aimed at suppressing domestic support for Iran and cutting off suspected ties to foreign networks.

STRANDED AMERICAN IN BAHRAIN RECOUNTS SURVIVING REPORTED IRANIAN STRIKE ON HIGH-RISE BUILDING, PLEADS FOR HELP

Relations between Bahrain and Iran long have been strained, with Bahrain accusing Iran of backing militant networks and unrest inside the kingdom. The two countries severed diplomatic ties in 2016, and Bahrain’s role as host of the U.S. Navy’s Fifth Fleet has placed it on the front lines of the current confrontation, with Iranian strikes hitting near the base during recent retaliatory attacks.

Bahrain also is home to a sizable community of citizens of Iranian descent — often referred to as the Ajam — estimated to number in the hundreds of thousands.

Authorities have linked the crackdown to a wider campaign against what they describe as Iran-backed influence operations, including arrests of individuals accused of sharing videos of Iranian strikes, posting pro-Iran content, or communicating with foreign groups. Bahrain also has reported uncovering cells tied to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, which officials say were tasked with gathering intelligence on sensitive sites inside the kingdom.

Similar crackdowns have been reported across the Gulf since the start of the conflict, with hundreds of people arrested in countries including the United Arab Emirates for posting videos, images or commentary about Iranian attacks. Authorities have cited national security and public order laws, warning that even sharing footage of strikes could expose sensitive information or fuel unrest.

The measures come amid a broader regional trend of governments tightening citizenship rules on security grounds. Kuwait, for example, has revoked nationality from more than 70,000 people since 2024, with officials there saying the program is aimed at addressing fraud.

The move has drawn criticism from the Bahrain Institute for Rights and Democracy, whose advocacy director Sayed Ahmed Alwadaei called it “the beginning of a dangerous era of repression” and said the decisions were imposed without legal safeguards or the right of appeal.

  • Election probe targets ‘unusual’ reports in wake of Virginia redistricting referendum: AFPI

A political advocacy group is launching an investigation into mail-in ballot practices in Virginia after a narrow “Yes” victory on a redistricting referendum raised questions about election procedures.

Final results in last week’s contest showed voters narrowly approved of Democrats’ effort to redraw Virginia’s congressional map for at least the next four years with heavy geographical and population-based preference given to dense, Democratic-majority areas like Richmond-Petersburg, Hampton Roads and the suburbs of Washington, D.C.

While the election is again in the hands of the courts over procedural and ballot-language-related concerns — at both the county and state Supreme Court levels — the America First Policy Institute issued legally binding records requests to several key counties across the commonwealth, from Christiansburg to Ashburn.

“If we don’t have secure elections, then we won’t have a country,” Leigh Ann O’Neill, chief legal affairs officer for AFPI, told Fox News Digital in an interview.

“And so that is a very high priority for us. And we are very invested in making sure that all the proper procedures are always followed in elections. And that’s, of course, no different with respect to this referendum in Virginia.”

AFPI’s investigation is asking election officials to turn over communications regarding how mail-in and absentee balloting was administered during the election — which had a several-week early-voting window.

Factors the group is interested in include how ballots were stored, guidance given to county officials, how ballots were distributed and accepted and so forth.

O’Neill said AFPI acted upon reports including online where people were pointing out alleged discrepancies and “unusual mail-in ballot counts” from some counties.

Late in the evening, Virginia’s largest county — Fairfax — reported a tranche of votes that helped “Yes” across the finish line. Fox News Digital reached out to Fairfax officials and several other counties targeted by AFPI’s probe.

O’Neill said AFPI’s probe isn’t simply focusing on places where allegations exist, but also a sampling of counties across the commonwealth, to ensure “election integrity principles are upheld in all parts of [Virginia] and around the country.”

“We’re looking for information that will give us peace of mind that all of the proper procedures were in fact followed.”

O’Neill stressed objectivity versus any political or issue-based end goal in AFPI’s probe, in hopes it will help illustrate where election integrity stands on a national basis.

She said AFPI is seeking evidence of uniformity and consistency across Virginia and to assuage any cause for concern among voters.

A second part of AFPI’s probe focuses on allegations of educational impropriety in Fairfax’s school district, where reports surfaced in The Washington Times and elsewhere of teachers trying to ascertain students’ parents’ stance on redistricting and commit what AFPI described as “partisan voter influence.”

In a Times column, Fairfax parent Kelly Sadler said her twins who are in different civics classes asked her if she was voting for the redistricting amendment.

When Sadler replied that she wasn’t, she wrote that her sons already understand her politics and therefore was interested in why they would ask her again.

“Turns out, in both of their civics classes that day, taught by two different teachers in Fairfax County Public Schools, they were urged to go home and persuade their parents to vote yes on the measure to make Virginia’s maps “as fair as they can be [to] stop Donald Trump at all costs,” Sadler wrote.

“Any time you have reports of teachers basically directing students which way to vote on a given topic, you know that we’ve moved outside the realm of objective teaching about how the civics process and systems work, and you’ve moved into advocating for a particular political belief or concept,” added O’Neill in her interview.

O’Neill said FCPS Superintendent Michelle Reid should take such reports seriously and conduct her own investigation.

Fox News Digital reached out to FCPS for comment.

O’Neill said a 1978 federal policy called the Pupil Privacy Rights Act requires parents to be given notice before their students are surveyed for sensitive information, including political beliefs.

“So again, that’s an open question. We don’t know if that’s what happened here. But if so, that would be a very serious concern. And we think that the voters, the taxpayers in Virginia have a right to understand what was going on,” she said.

Fox News Digital additionally reached out to Loudoun, Stafford, Montgomery and Spotsylvania County election officials.

Spotsylvania County was the only county to reply by press time, as Director of Elections and General Registrar Kellie Acors defended the exurban county’s practices.

“We understand the importance of public trust in the integrity of our election processes, and we appreciate the interest in mail-in ballot procedures and any concerns raised,” Acors told Fox News Digital.

“At this time there has been zero interest or questions on our Vote by Mail process, numbers entered and turnout. We are all finishing completing these numbers [Monday] actually.  As … mentioned, the only question has been the extensive FOIA I received late last week.”

AFPI is led by Board Chairman and FOX Business anchor Larry Kudlow and interim president Greg Sindelar, formerly of the Texas Public Policy Foundation, and was reportedly co-founded by current USDA Secretary Brooke Rollins.
